If curvy roads, great scenery, and elevation are your thing- this is the section of road for you!

Hairpin Adventure - Part One, MM 97-102 - 5 miles - 89 curves
The driving fun begins as travelers leave Gauley Bridge's often-photographed Cathedral Falls, and begin the curvy, scenic climb up Gauley Mountain. Sway around 89 curves, many hairpin, in the 5-mile trek to the top where Ansted's Hawk Nest offers breathtaking views of the New River Gorge (Elevation: 2,546'). Ready for Part 2 - Don't be fooled by the straight-away respite near Hico; continue east for another 156 twists and turns as Route 60 snakes across Sewell Mountain (Elevation; 3,211')!

Chimney Corner Cafe and Country Store, MM 100
All summer live bluegrass music rings out daily from the stage at the open-air Chimney Corner Cafe. across the road, find an authentic West Virginia keepsake at the log cabin Chimney Corner Country Store, a historic Midland Trail landmark.

Mystery Hole, MM 101
Take time to "Be Shocked and Amazed" at the Trail's renowned tourist trap - oops, roadside attraction - the Mystery Hole. Landmarked by a Volkswagen protruding from a Quonset hut, the Mystery Hole allegedly sits over a hole in the ground where the law of gravity does not apply. Balls roll uphill. Chairs sit halfway up a wall. Kids and adults alike are awed. Money disappears from your pockets.
